The book
The Lord of the Rings series was written by J.R.R. Tolkien. He is obviously a genius, because his books are amazing! In a quick description, It is about a dark lord named Sauron who forged the great Ring of Power. This ring is the source of all evil, and must be destroyed! This task falls upon Frodo Baggins of the Shire. Along with his friends, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Gandalf the Grey, and a fellowship (Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli, Bromomir, and those listed above), he sets off to do this. He must take the Ring to Mordor and cast it into the fires of Mount Doom, and it will forever be destroyed. |

The movie
There are three books in this series:
The Fellowship Of The Ring
("Being the First Part of The Lord Of The Rings")
The Two Towers
("Being the Second Part of The Lord Of The Rings")
The Return of The King
("Being the Third Part of The Lord Of The Rings")
And all three are being turned into movies!
Currently only 'The Fellowship of The Ring' is out, but within the next two years, all of them will have been in theatres.
